"We, the people of South Africa, Recognise the injustices of our past; Honour those who suffered for justice and freedom in our land; Respect those who have worked to build and develop our country; and Believe that South Africa belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity.” Preamble to the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

Tutu's race comments are a hinderance to progress

I've always had the highest respect for Archbishop Desmond Tutu. His new book "God Is Not A Christian" is not a bad read, although on the pricey side (R221).
When it comes to the race debate, I expect crazy comments from the likes of Julius Malema and his cronies, but not the esteemed Arch, which is why I was so shocked to read recent reports of comments he made at his book launch.
Tutu called for a tax whites for benefiting from apartheid. I believe the FW De Klerk Foundation hit the nail on the head when saying that this call risked a return to racial classification."However devastating apartheid might have been we cannot continue ad infinitum to ascribe everything that goes wrong in South Africa today to the past," it said in a statement. "Nor can we accept the dangerous idea of racial guilt."
It has been 17 years since 1994... when are we finally going to move on to talk about the real issues effecting South Africa rather than constantly pulling the race card.
